Grievance procedures

The Solicitors' Assistance Scheme (SAS)is a service provided to the solicitors' profession whereby matters are referred to panel members of the Scheme, each of whom has agreed to provide up to one hour's preliminary advice free of charge. As such we operate as a gateway to these solicitors as opposed to any type of a formal referral service. In particular, please note that the SAS does not itself provide legal or other advice.

In the event that you are disatisfied with the service which you have received from a Solicitors' Assistance Scheme member, please would you deal with the matter in the first instance as you would any complaint against a solicitor and raise the complaint with the firm in question. In the event that you remain disatisfied then please report the matter to the Legal Complaints Service in the normal course of events.

Whilst we do not have a formal complaints process ourselves, we would however welcome the opportunity to review that solicitor's membership of our panel. We would be grateful, therefore, if you would write, in the first instance, to our Chairman, David Morgan, with details of the complaint and of any resolution achieved so that the information can be taken into account by the Committee. He can be contacted c/o Radcliffes LeBrasseur, 5 Great College Street, Westminster, London, SW1P 3SJ. If for any reason it is not appropriate to write to Mr. Morgan, then please write to our secretary, Duncan Finlyson. He can be contacted c/o Richard Nelson Solicitors, 8 The Courtyard, 707 Warwick Road, Solihull, B91 3DA.

In the event that you are disatisfied with the service which you have received from the SAS itself, please write to our Chairman, David Morgan, at the address above stating the manner of your disatisfaction and details of how this arose.
